The philosophy of Chef Nate and Crosswinds Grille is quite simple: start with the freshest, most local products possible and the end result will be more superior.

Farm to Table for us is more than a trend- it’s the hunt of finding product, building relationships with amazing farmers and serving real food.  The experience really is quite life-changing and the relationships built with our farmers is like nothing we have experienced before.

It is their passion that makes our job of cooking so much easier and their energy that makes our food taste so different.  Without them, we would just be another restaurant serving imported food.

Hog Butchering & Sausage Making Weekend
February 27 & 28, 2015
Spend the weekend at The Lakehouse Inn and learn the basic techniques for butchering a hog!  This class is led by Chef Nate of Crosswinds Grille.  Chef Nate butchers a half of pig every two weeks at the restaurant and makes his own ham, bacon, pancetta and sausage from the different cuts.  This package includes lodging for two nights, a full breakfast each morning, an Ohio cheese & charcuterie board upon arrival, a full day butchering course on Saturday, light lunch on Saturday and a three course dinner Saturday evening featuring select cuts from the hog that you will butcher in class. In addition, each guest will receive bacon & sausage to take home.

Cheesmaking Weekend with Lucky Penny Creamery

Join us for a hands on artisanal cheesemaking class at The Lakehouse Inn!  The cheesemaking class is led by Abbe Turner, cheesemaker from Lucky Penny Creamery in Kent, Ohio.  This package includes: full day cheesemaking class on Saturday, two nights lodging at The Lakehouse Inn, full breakfast each morning, lunch on Saturday, wine & cheese pairing and dinner Saturday evening highlighting the cheeses you will make in class.  Limited space is available for this package.
